An Open Letter to Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church

Just when I try again to find a place in my life where I can co-exist with the faithful, I am given a not-so-subtle reminder that there are some people in this world that all of us need to stand up against and fight.

This message is for Fred Phelps and members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

It is not enough for any of you to go far out of your way to protest the funerals of fallen service members and further destroy the hearts of the broken-hearted in mourning.

It is not enough for any of you to enjoy your constitutional rights, then kick those who provide that right to you in the face and insult them as they die.

It is not enough for any of you to brainwash those around you, including your children, to think exactly the way you do.

It is not enough for any of you to inflict injury to those who have a different perspective or sexual orientation, while falling just short of murdering them yourselves.

It is not enough for any of you to abuse your First Amendment rights at the emotional detriment of others.

It is not enough for any of you to distort the Bible in order to justify your own stupidity and evil.

No, none of these acts are despicable and hateful enough for any of you, so you have to take your dog and pony from Topeka to Tuscon in order to display to the world just how deep the roots of your hatred grow. Now that the intoxicating effects of wishing death upon homosexuals, and adding insult to injury to others is are wearing off, you turn your sites to the family of a little girl who has fallen in a nightmare of brutality -- a little girl who never did a damned thing to any of you.

And the only reason any of you showed up to protest her funeral at all is because she was raised Catholic, and didn't believe exactly as you do.

So you offer to refrain from protesting her funeral in exchange for air time in which you can spew more of your hate. How is this a fair exchange? A little girl loses her life, you decide to picket her funeral, while celebrating a mass murderer and wishing he could have killed more. Young or old, black or white, Jew or Muslim, atheist or Christian, it doesn't matter to you because they don't believe exactly as you do.

There's a part of me that even wonders why I'm writing this in the first place because it's a waste of energy. You know no conscience, remorse, pity, sorrow, or even the slightest hint of humanity. There's no hope that it will pique the better of your emotions and cause you to consider the harm you've done, and will do to others. You couldn't care less about your victims as long as you get to score what you perceive as brownie points with God. That part of me also knows that all of the combined skills, intellects, and talents that you have amount to little more than a pimple on the ass of society. It also knows that you deserve nothing more than to be laughed at, scorned and ridiculed.

At the same time, there's a part of me that realizes that all of you have been lied to at the hands of a megalomaniacal sociopath, and there's still hope for you, especially your children.

Perhaps one of the most maddening aspects of your rhetoric is that you love the violence that is visited upon those who disagree, but the moment someone smashes your windshields with a brick you're utterly shocked by it.

What possible good could any of you hope to achieve by even contemplating this? How you can sleep soundly at night, wake in the morning and look your hideous reflection in the mirror and not be horrified is a mystery that no person of sound mind and reason will ever comprehend.

What must it be like to live in a world where all you see is absolute evil? When was the last time you appreciated a soft spring rain? When was the last time you smiled at the first snow fall of winter? When was the last time you truly smiled at the beauty of a child's smile and laughter? When was the last time you absolutely marveled at the site of a hawk in flight, or found even a brief moment of happiness and laughter as two squirrels bicker and chase each other through a forest? When was the last time you smiled an honest, pure smile without even the slightest hint of maniacal insanity?

When I think of you, I think of a group of vampires that drink the blood of the innocent and broken-hearted in order to sustain their own miserable existence, because they have no life of their own. When I think of you, there is no word in any language in the known Universe to accurately describe how evil, putrid and despicable all of you are.

If I ever encounter you, I will stand against you, shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm with Christians, agnostics, atheists and send you back to that toilet of a third-world hell hole you call a church. Long after you're gone, you and your followers will be relegated to the ash heap of history, and your name will only incite righteous anger and contempt.

Nice try, John.

First things first - I love you, honey, but I have to do this.

Now that that's out of the way, how stupid does John Ratzinger, a.k.a, Pope Benedict XVI, think atheists, agnostics, deists, and other freethinkers are?

If you've missed the latest papal news, Ratzinger tried in vain to equate atheism with Nazism, even going so far to say that atheism lead to the Holocaust in an attempt rid the world of God. Apparently, Ratzinger never heard of a book that Adolf Hitler wrote, entitled "Mein Kampf". In it, Hitler stated "I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty Creator. By Warding off the Jews, I am fighting for the Lord's work."

Here are some more quotes that Ratzinger might want to pay attention to:

"I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so." - 1941

"I would like here to appeal to a greater than I, Count Lerchenfeld. He said in the last session of the Landtag that his feeling 'as a man and a Christian' prevented him from being an anti-Semite. I say: My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. .. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison." - 1922

"The greatness of Christianity did not lie in attempted negotiations for compromise with any similar philosophical opinions in the ancient world, but in its inexorable fanaticism in preaching and fighting for its own doctrine." - Mein Kampf

"I have followed the Church in giving our party program the character of unalterable finality, like the Creed. The Church has never allowed the Creed to be interfered with. It is fifteen hundred years since it was formulated, but every suggestion for its amendment, every logical criticism, or attack on it, has been rejected. The Church has realized that anything and everything can be built up on a document of that sort, no matter how contradictory or irreconcilable with it. The faithful will swallow it whole, so long as logical reasoning is never allowed to be brought to bear on it." - Mein Kampf

Sorry, John. It doesn't sound like Hitler was an atheist to me.

Since we're quoting Nazis, let's throw another in for good measure:

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the policital, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."

Actually, what I really think Ratzinger is afraid of is people learning about the true history of the Church and its complicity with the Nazis as they murdered over 6 million Jews. Either that or he's still hoping that people will forget that he was a Nazi himself.

Anyway, nice try, John. Continue living your lavish life clothed in the finest linens and silk while sitting in a throne made of gold. Personally, you disgust me like few people can.

In related news, Christine O'Donnell, the new darling of the Teabaggers, stated that she wouldn't lie to protect Jews from Nazis. Apparently, telling the truth means more to her than saving the lives of innocent people. During a recent appearance on Bill Maher's show, she stated the following:

"I believe if I were in that situation, God would provide a way to do the right thing righteously. I believe that! ... You never have to practice deception. God always provides a way out."

Which, of course, begs the obvious question; did your god provide a way out for the millions of Jews who were being gassed and incinerated, Christine? Could you stand there listening to Jews screaming to God to save their lives as the skin melted from their flesh with a clean conscience because you couldn't tell even a little white lie to save them?

Surprise! Well, not really.

More hypocrisy and double standards from Wiley Drake.

You may recall that Wiley Drake is the Bible-thumping sleezebag that loves to pray for the deaths of those who have a difference of opinion, whether it's politics, health care reform, religious affiliation, or more specifically, abortion. He tried to credit himself for the death of George Tiller, and indirectly credit himself for the death of John Murtha. However, he has been kind enough to call off his imprecatory prayer hit on President Obama recently. That is, until he supposedly reveals that the president is actually Kenyan.

You may also recall that Robert Byrd died last month. Since Byrd was a known racist, pro-choice, and even supported partial-birth abortion, you would think that Drake would have called down lightning, locusts, hail, fire, brimstone, and a kitchen sink for good measure to try to send him on an express elevator to hell. Instead, Drake attempted to take credit for getting him into heaven.

You can understand my confusion, Wiley. You take credit for the deaths of other senators and congressman, and even call for a divine hit on all the Democrats in Congress for trying to give aid to Americans who otherwise can't afford it due to corporate greed. But you try to score brownie points with God by praying for someone who's a known racist to get them into heaven?

Very telling, Wiley. Very telling.

More evil than Pat Robertson?

What happens when you mix unbridled capitalism with pseudo-science? People die, that's what.

Meet James McCormick. He's the inventor of this little gadget - the ADE-651 "bomb detector". The Iraqi government has bought about 2,000 of these things that cost go for as much as $60,000 (US). Altogether, some investigators believe that Iraq has spent well over $85 million for the ADE-651. The catch is, it doesn't work. But the Iraqis, so desperate for anything to alleviate everyday bloodshed, they don't care if it works or not. They want these things, despite the best attempts of US officials to discourage them from wasting their money.

Says McCormick of the ADE-651, "the theory behind dowsing and the theory behind how we actually detect explosives is very similar".

Dowsing?!

He goes on to say, “One of the problems we have is that the machine does look primitive. We are working on a new model that has flashing lights.”

Ooooo...flashing lights! That's exactly what this piece of shit needs! Right next to a big, fat warning label.

Is this guy more evil than Pat Robertson? Too close to call. They both get people killed by the dozens everyday. Perhaps, if there really is a hell, they'll be bunkmates there someday.

Thanks to James Randi for exposing this murderer. Watch him eviscerate McCormick below.

Delusional Christianity

It's okay if you're a Christian. If you believe in Jesus, that's your business. It's personal to you, and you should keep it that way. And it's your constitutional right as an American to believe in anything you want, even if you believe that pigs can fly, unicorns exist, or there's a scared little man behind the curtain furiously pulling levers and spinning dials to keep you deluded and confused.

But when you start making claims that you can raise the dead, it's time to be tossed in jail before another Jonestown takes place. This guy makes Ray Comfort sound like the poster child for sanity and well-being. Is it too much to ask for video of said dead raising?

Funny, Jesus can use this dirtbag to raise the one child from the dead, but he can't save 15 million children from poverty, AIDS, and death by starvation every year.

The next time you're raising someone from the dead, please have a team of coroners, scientists, and a camera crew on site, asshole. In the meantime, please see a psychiatrist. Either that or join the human race and work on becoming a decent human being instead of providing false hopes and hocus-pocus to unsuspecting, desperate, and destitute citizens of the world.

In related news, Pat Robertson blames that the recent earthquake in Haiti on the Haitians. According to Robertson, the Haitians signed a deal with the devil when they fought for their freedom from France, hence they called down Gawd's wrath on their heads.

What do you expect from a psychopathic piece of shit like Pat Robertson? Thanks to White House Press Secretary, Robert Gibbs for shoving it back in Robertson's face.
