Update: Hahaha!

A week ago I told you that creators of this poll weren't getting the reaction they wanted, so they pulled it down. They put it back up, and it still wasn't getting the reaction they wanted. Today we find that they moved the goalposts yet again. Read the options from the first poll from January 22, then read the ones from today (below), and you tell me who's being dishonest.

Since they changed the questions again, I took the liberty of voting again. You shouldn't be surprised that the results of the poll have more or less stayed the same.

Hahaha!

Thanks to PZ Meyers for bringing this story into the spotlight. This is classic!

Apparently a poll was posted at thisisyourbible.com that asked the question, "Is the Bible really inspired by God?" It didn't yield the results that the creators of the poll had hoped for, so they temporarily took it down. Shocking!

However, they have since put the poll back online, and it's still getting a negative reaction. Just in case the website says everything is fine and that the overwhelming majority of people believe that the Bible is the word of God (which it's not), I've posted the image below.

I'll be keeping my eye on this one so you don't have to.

Congress wants to fix the BCS? Shock.

Our country is at war. The economy is in the crapper. Health care reform isn't happening. And somewhere in Washington, a Texan thinks that the BCS should take precedence over the lives of average Americans.

Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas...another shock) believes that the BCS ranking system isn't fair because Texas Christian University somehow isn't on par with Alabama or Florida. Keep in mind that this is the same climate-change denier who said, "Wind is God's way of balancing heat. Wind is the way you shift heat from areas where it's hotter to areas where it's cooler. That's what wind is."

Somebody get me some ibuprofen!

Of all the things to worry about, this clown thinks it's more important for Congress to get involved in college football than helping Americans out. Surely, you have something infinitely more important to do Congressman? I suggest you get to it.

One more reason to hate the Flyers

Last night the Pens squeaked by the Panthers. I spent half the game cursing at Tomas Vokoun through my television. Then I watched David Booth loose his stick then proceeded to pick up the puck with his hand and throw it down the ice. He went to the box for that, but the Pens failed to score. I laughed myself sick in disbelief.

Fast forward to tonight when thug Mike Richards lays a shoulder right on Booth's chin, who subsequently went face down onto the ice motionless.

Reason #4,235,089 to hate the Philadelphia Flyers - Mike Richards. Even Jesus hates the Flyers.

Jefferson the Creationist

I realize that this is a little bit late, but as I was listening to Episode #209 of the Skeptics Guide to the Universe, I heard that the DiscoTute has confirmed that Jefferson would be a creationist if he were alive today. At least that's what Stephen Meyers would have us believe.

Keep in mind that Jefferson died before the Origin of Species was published, not to mention the discoveries of Hubble's Law or Cosmic Background Radiation. To his credit, at least Meyers confirmed this in his article.

Meyers touches on DNA for just a moment, referring to Crick and Watson's discovery of DNA structure. Of course, what Meyers doesn't tell you is that Crick was an agnostic "leaning toward atheism," while Watson, 81, is an atheist. Crick has gone so far as to say "Christianity may be OK between consenting adults in private but should not be taught to young children." Neither does Meyers tell you that Jefferson was a deist, not a Christian.

Like most creationists, Meyers is trying to push not just creationism onto the public, but a very specific kind of creationism. And that's something that should give all of us pause.

In somewhat related and equally late news, the Texas State Board of Education thinks its high school history text books need revised. Apparently, Thurgood Marshall isn't a hero worthy of recognition, but Billy Graham is.

Says right-wing, fundamentalist lunatic, Don McLeroy, "America is a special place and we need to be sure we communicate that to our children. The foundational principles of our country are very biblical.... That needs to come out in the textbooks."

As if Rome had nothing to do with the foundation of Western civilization. Why this man is still employed by anyone is beyond me.

My day - ruined

Arts Fest is a pretty big deal in State College. It brings artists from all over the country to our humble little town to sell their wares, and the talent that these people display is absolutely amazing. The food is great, the music is great, and the atmosphere is great.

But leave it up to douchebags like this to ruin the fun for everyone.

If you were anywhere near the intersection of College and Allen today around 2:00 o'clock, surely you heard him warning festival goers that they're all doomed to hell. Men, women, children, infants, it makes no difference - his god is an equal opportunity hater.

For those of you who know me, you'll know that I'm a pretty easy-going guy. But the moment I heard him spew his vitriol to those around him, it made my blood boil. Unfortunately, the First Amendment and the State College Borough Ordinances 1460 and 1530 give him the right to do so.

So, if you see him or any of his cohorts handing out chick tracts or preaching, give them a little protest in your own creative, yet lawful way.

Video filled with jackassery causes stir.

A police officer with the Harmony Area High School District has been placed under administrative review after a video he produced was viewed by many parents of the surrounding communities.

The video stars Troy Fritz, who plays a wrestler/psycho/juvenile running around a high school committing acts of violence. Among the acts of violence, two gunmen firing blanks at victims in a hallway, and a woman with her throat slit.

Of course, Mr. Fritz's defenders poured out of the woodwork, claiming it's not a big deal, no one was hurt, lighten up, etc., to which I respond, this man had a gun in a high school. Blanks or not, I do believe that is against the law. I don't know which is more shocking; the idea that someone films mock murder scenes in high school halls, or the fact that an adult is running around in a yellow wrestling outfit. I'm sure his parents must be proud.

The History Channel annoys me!

As if drivel about the end of the world and the Second Coming weren't enough, the History Channel takes one more step toward complete idiocy.

As I type this, I'm watching an episode of The Universe, called "Alien Faces". The premise of this episode is to shed light on what life might be like on other planets. I'm sure that you might be thinking, "What could you possibly have against the History Channel?" Let's look at an excerpt, shall we?

This particular episode has David Aguilar, a respected astronomer with an impressive list of credentials to his name. The narrator and Aguilar begin to talk about lifeforms on a fictional planet called AG-143. Not only that, but they begin to call these lifeforms by name, like the sargun and the moblant.

Says Aguilar:
"At first sight you might almost mistake a moblant for a starfish. It has stubby little arms that it moves across the desert, but the odd thing about these arms is they have long tentacles that probe the sand for pockets of water that may be hidden. And the odd thing about this creature is if it finds a large, large pocket of water, it begins pulling the water up like it's pulling it up a well. And it grows in size, and it grows in size, and it stores the water like a camel does."
All the while, he keeps a straight face as if this were an irrefutable fact.

*rolling fingers on desk*

I don't know about you, but I'm within inches of boycotting The History Channel, TDC, and TLC altogether. They've blurred the line between science fact and science fiction so much that you can't tell the difference. I don't watch TDC to watch Bear Grylls chomping on an eyeball of an ill-fated yak, nor do I watch TLC for some sexist, egomaniacal, sycophantic control freak polluting the gene pool.

BAH!!!
