Ray Comfort's ongoing lies and plagiarism.

Hey -- guess what! I caught Ray Comfort in yet another tangled web of lies and plagiarism!

Shocked? Neither am I.

Over the past week, Ray has been leading a very cherry-picked study of the Book of Job, which used to be my favorite book in the Bible, followed very closely by The Book of Esther. In June 2009, I wrote my own study on the Book of Job, and gave you my personal opinion on what the book is really about -- a fictional tale of an innocent man who lost nearly everything, including his children, as a result from a cosmic pissing contest between Jehovah and Satan.

True to form, Ray would have you believe that he's more of an astrophysicist than Stephen Hawking, conveniently skirting the overwhelming evidence that supports the Big Bang theory. In his blogpost on Thursday, June 28th, Ray resumes his arrogance and smug sense of superiority by inferring that those of us who do not subscribe to his spiritual point of view have "a few intellectual problems."

He goes on asking questions that have already been answered hundreds if not thousands of times, but Ray just keeps ignoring the answers. Yet Ray continues, "What was in the beginning? What produced this huge, incredible natural world in which we live? If you say it was the 'big bang,' then where did the materials come from to make the big bang? If the Big Bang was the product, who or what was the producer?" Ray has received answers to these questions repeatedly and he knows it, but like a terrified puppy, he just runs with his tail tucked firmly between his legs.

Something about Ray's writing at this particular post didn't feel right. Not that it ever does, mind you. But I just had a feeling the words I read weren't his. I copied just one sentence from that post, pasted it into Google, and hit enter. Sure enough, I was right.

When Ray talks about science, his audience, Christian or non-Christian, must research what he says because when he speaks on matters of science, he lies. All the time. I don't just mean some of the time -- I mean all of the time. Ray likely lifted the forementioned sentence from this article written by Fraser Cain, publisher of Universe Today, and co-host of the AstronomyCast podcast. I could beat Cain with a wet trout for a week due to his shoddy writing; Cain should know better. Cain's article is based on this paper published in Astronomy and Astrophysics, May 2011.

Ray:
"Sound travels in waves as does light and heat, but unlike light and heat, sound moves by making molecules vibrate. So, for sound to travel anywhere there must be molecules for it to travel. Sound travels on earth to our ears by vibrating air molecules, but there are no molecules in space."
Fraser:
"Sound travels in waves like light or heat does, but unlike them, sound travels by making molecules vibrate. So, in order for sound to travel, there has to be something with molecules for it to travel through. On Earth, sound travels to your ears by vibrating air molecules. In deep space, the large empty areas between stars and planets, there are no molecules to vibrate."
Ray was then properly educated by the guests at his blog about cosmology and physics, which he will probably ignore. I'm still waiting for his response to my question regarding the source is for his claims.

Having my suspicions confirmed that Ray is a plagiarist, I did a simple Google search on Ray's plagiarism, and even I was a bit surprised at how much of this clown's work is not his. You may recall that in 2009, Ray pulled a stunt by releasing his version of Charles Darwin's "The Origin of Species". In Ray's bastardized version, he offered a brief biography of Darwin. As it turns out, large portions of the introduction were lifted from a paper entitled "A Brief History of Charles Darwin" written by Dr. Stan Guffey, Ph.D., professor of biology at the University of Tennessee. Read more about this story here.

They don't call it the Information Age for nothing, Ray. All I have to do to learn about any topic is punch in a few words and entire digital libraries are at my fingertips. Why, then, do you think that you're the only person who's smart enough to use a search engine? How stupid do you think the rest of us are?

We all know that you're a cowardly, lying, thief, Ray. By your own admission, lying thieves will be sent on a one-way ticket to Hell. Are you willing to finally face your opponents, look them in the eye, and admit that you're a charlatan? Have you ever apologized to Cain, Guffey, or anybody else for presenting their work as your own?

For a person who implores us to examine a religion you claim is the ultimate guide to morality, which condemns lying and stealing, why do you resort to these things, Ray? Do you ever feel even slightly ashamed for your intellectual dishonesty?

To the followers of this charlatan, how much of his intellectual feces are you going to eagerly consume while ignoring the fact that Ray is a liar? You readily accuse atheists and agnostics of being lying thieves without evidence, but you don't dare raise an accusatory finger at somebody who actually deserves it like Ray. A child could tell you that Ray's a lying thief, but grown adults give him carte blanche for no other reason than he professes the same faith that you do. If you know he's a liar, and you still refer to him is a good Christian, you're just as much of a liar as he is.

Here are some cosmological and astrophysical terms for Ray, other creationists, and even Fraser Cain to research:
For a list of Ray's lies, click here.

Just for fun, watch the video below to see just how much of a dishonest, hypocritical douchebag Ray really is.

The Duggars. Again.

Everytime I even hear the name "Duggar" my knuckles turn white and I grit my teeth. I don't know whether to shrug them off, laugh at them, take pity upon their kids, or take issue with their latest episode of inane bullshit.
As if their previous miscarriage wasn't enough to teach the halfwits known as Jim Bob and Michele Duggar that eventually, the female womb reaches a time that it just won't produce anymore children, these assholes have decided to give it a shot at having yet another kid.

You might remember my first post way back in 2008 about Jim Bob and the brain-washed sheep he calls a wife. In that post, I told you that he claims his house is a church and therefore claims tax-exempt status. Can you say crook, boys and girls? I knew you could.
I also told you that only the boys are allowed to attend college, meanwhile the girls are meant to stay at home with their slavemaster husbands and pump out a baby every nine months.
Do I lament for the child that would have been? Absolutely. Do I lament for Jim Bob and Michele? Absolutely not. They continue to ignore science, basic human biology and common sense for the sake of dogma, and continue pushing their parental duties upon kids who are still in grade school. Meanwhile, they continue to continue to be absolute media whores. Anything for a buck -- right, JimBo?

Michele, if you're reading this, stop being such a sheep and live your life for your children and not your abusive, scumbag husband.

If you're a child of the Duggars, do not live by your parents' example. They are frauds and charlatans, and have completely brainwashed you to the point that none of you have any hope of thinking for yourselves. You should be embarrassed and ashamed to call them parents.

If you're a member of the media, stop caving into these assholes everytime Michele gets knocked up. They're media pigs and can never get enough attention. The more spotlight you give them, the more it pisses me off. Stop wasting your time and energy on them because they don't deserve it. There are far greater people and issues to spend your time and energy on. Besides, all you're doing is encouraging even more charlatans to pursue the same path.
If you're an employee or executive at The Learning Channel (there's a joke), then do what TLC is supposed to be about -- learning! Any American with a brain and decency doesn't give a shit about:
  • Insecure mothers who live vicariously through their daughters by shamelessly parading them in front of cameras in skimpy, whorish outfits.
  • Somebody that ate to the point that they need to be lifted by a forklift after a hole was cut through their bedroom wall just to get to the hospital for emergency gastric bypass.
  • Somebody who's too lazy and/or chemically imbalanced to get off their ass and clean their home.
  • Somebody who has way too much time on their hands.
  • The mentally ill.
And they damned sure don't give a shit about the Duggars.

You might ask, "What difference does it make to you if the Duggars decide to have more kids?" to which my response is my eldest nephew. He's in his mid-20's and has impregnated his wife four times, going on five. They recently stated that they wish to have at least ten kids. The kicker is that he has no solid, full-time employment, no advanced education of any kind, yet parades himself around as an ordained Baptist minister. Even more, he receives $20/hr in compensation by local retirement homes because he continues to lie to them by convincing them that he's fully ordained and legally recognized by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to spread his lies and dogma as a part-time job.
One of these days, the state will catch up to him and when it does, he will spending a long time inside a jail cell.
And where does my dear, brainwashed nephew and his wife get the idea of having so many children? Yep, you guessed it -- JimBo, Michele and the Quiverfull Movement. Oh, and the mass media that keep feeding him this crap which he readily gobbles up like candy.

So long, Harold!

After three doomsday prophecies failed to come to fruition, the most recent of which was on October 21, Harold Camping has finally decided to call it a career and withdraw from the public eye.

The alarming thing is, even after the last prophecy failed, Camping still had followers who dedicate their lives to his teachings. Quite sad, really.

Anyway, I hope that Harold has at least one shred of honesty left and will reimburse all the millions of dollars that he duped his followers into giving to him so he could afford his mini kingdom. I doubt he has anything left but bitterness and resentment, but it never hurts to hope.

Good riddance, Harold.

Christianity = cult, Pastor Jeffress

I hate when I'm forced to rush to the defense of a Republican, but when it comes to defending Republicans from religious persecution, I have to step up.

Enter Pastor Robert Jeffers, Senior Pastor at First Baptist Dallas in Big D, and his self-perceived need to step in and take aim at the fact that Mitt Romney is Mormon. According to Jeffers, Romney should not be considered as a legitimate presidential candidate because of his faith -- that only people he deems "Christian" are worthy of holding office.

"Do we prefer somebody who is a believer in Jesus Christ, or somebody who is a good moral person, but part of a cult? I know it's not politically correct to say, but it's true -- Mormonism is a cult."

So, basically what Jeffress is saying is that he would rather a murdering rapist president, just long as that person believes in Jesus Christ, over a morally upright person who happens to have a different faith. I know Satanists that are of a higher moral calibre than Jeffress. Personally, I want a president who knows what the hell they're doing and prefers to do the will of the people over the wills of corporate interests and captains of industry, and especially the will of some elusive spirit.

Anyway, here's an English lesson for you, Mr. Jeffress. It is the definition of the word "cult" from several dictionaries, including Webster's dictionary. This is important because Noah Webster sought to Christianize the United States.

cult: 1. Attentive care; homage; worship. 2. A system of religious belief and worship; esp., a system of rites employed in worship. - Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, pg. 212, 1892

For a more modernized description of cult, click here.

Go to sleep now, Mr. Jeffress. Tomorrow may be a brighter day.

What do bird die-offs and Marco Rubio have in common?

Meet Cindy Jacobs. Cindy and her husband Mike run Generals International, an organization based in Texas that devotes itself to societal change through prayer. The organization calls Cindy...seriously, get this...God's mouthpiece.

Okay, seriously, what is it with you fundies that have the kahonies to call yourselves God's ambassador, mouthpiece, instrument, lap dog, etc., as if you have God's cell number on speed dial?? See, look what you made me do! I used two question marks in a sentence!

Anyway, Cindy believes that the recent bird and fish die-offs in Beebe, Arkansas are God's wrath because of the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell. One would think that God would take his anger out on those that repealed DADT instead of 5,000 birds. But what Jacobs isn't telling you is that massive bird die-offs have also recently occurred in Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Vietnam, Philippines, Brazil, and Italy. So, by Jacobs' logic, these nations have repealed DADT as well?

This is a woman who prophesied that God has delivered us Marco Rubio to be the next great leader in American politics. For those of you who may not know, Rubio was a Teabagger favorite and won election to the Senate in November. He is also the target of multiple ethics violation complaints and investigations, including misuse of GOP credit cards for personal goods and services.

Rubio attracted quite a bit of attention to himself when it was learned that one of his biggest financial backers was a Cuban-American tobacco company, Dosal. When he was the Florida Speaker of the House, Rubio made it possible for Dosal to bypass legislation that would have made them pay up big money in recent settlements with the state of Florida. Somehow all of this apparently means that Rubio is God's right-hand man when it comes to the tobacco lobby in American politics.

There's a term for people like Cindy Jacobs -- crazy. Although delusional, thief, liar, charlatan, fraud, and deceptive are just as valid.

Watch Cindy make a complete fool of herself below.

More faith-based murder

In May 2009, I told you about Kara Neumann, a Wisconsin girl who died from diabetes at the age of 11 because her parents failed to take her to a doctor, rather insisting that Jesus would heal daughter. Even after she collapsed and drawing her last breath, her parents called friends and family asking them to pray for Kara instead of calling 911.

The next month, a 9-year old boy, Aaron Gregory Grady, died as a result of complications from diabetes, much like Kara Neumann. The boy's mother falsely believed that God would save her son, so she resisted taking him to a doctor. On Friday, December 28th, 2010, she finally turned herself in to authorities and was subsequently jailed. Very convenient for her, however, that she was able to post $10,000 bond.

Jesus said "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible for you." It is impossible, however, to have sufficient faith to save a child from diabetes. Which begs the question, if these people had enough faith that God would save their children, and God failed, how much faith is enough?

Just a thought

Last night I was enjoying a beer at Otto's with my friend, Dave, when we started having a discussion about Christianity. And it got me to thinking about something. According to Christians, Jesus is perfect by default since he is God. Christians also believe that stoning is wrong, as is slavery, along with a torrent of other nasty crimes against humanity. This is where the wheels start to fall of the wagon for Christian fundamentalists regarding the myth that the Old Testament doesn't matter because Jesus gave us a new covenant.

Jesus said that he came to fulfill the law (although he never mentions which law or group of laws), not to condemn. But if Jesus fulfilled all of the laws in order to clear the way for mankind to gain access to Heaven, including this law, then he's guilty of murder. He killed witches so you won't have to.

If you are a Christian, how then can you say that Jesus is God?

It's coming, Kentucky!

Sometimes the stupidity and willful ignorance in this country becomes so painful that I imagine for a moment what life would be like in Germany. I don't even know where to begin on this one.

Developers in Kentucky are asking the state government for tax exemption on a Noah's Ark-based theme park. AiG and Ark Encounters, LLC (whoever the hell that is), are joining forces to get this creatard funfest up and running by the end of 2014. Developers are hoping that it will bring in 1.6 million visitors a year and create 900 jobs. They're also hoping that it will have a ripple effect over a large geographic area. But the only effect it's going to have is the continued intellectual, downward spiral throughout Kentucky and the rest of the south.

If you're one of those that work for AiG, Ark Encounters, or the Kentucky state government that is seeing this travesty through, or if you are considering donating your hard-earned money to this cause, please spend some time examining the parallels between other flood myths to that of Noah's. Watch the videos below by Youtuber ItsTheSuperFly, in which he absolutely eviscerates the myth of Noah's flood/ark. After kicking yourself in the head for about an hour after realizing that you've been duped into believing this crap, consider putting that money toward something useful, like an education. Then go buy yourself a nice, hot, fresh cup of coffee and remind yourself that Noah's Ark was only a myth.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go buy a nice, hot, fresh cup of coffee of my own.

Meet John Shimkus

I have to admit, despite the fact that I try to stay informed of political goings-on, I have never heard of Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL). And now that I have, I'd like to introduce you to him if you haven't made his acquaintance already.

Last March, Shimkus inferred that climate change is a myth by stating that sea levels will not rise and that God would never destroy the earth through a flood again, as stated in Genesis 8:21-22 and 9:11. Clearly, Shimkus is anti-science, but perhaps the most frightening aspect of Shimkus is that he aspires to chair the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Furthermore, he recently sent a letter to his colleagues in which he states that he is "uniquely qualified among a group of talented contenders to lead the Energy and Commerce Committee."

One could only assume that such a person is well-studied in climate change, energy production, and commerce. Of course, he has none of these credentials, but he does have a teaching certificate from Christ College in Irvine, CA. However, to be fair, he also has an MBA from Southern Illinois University.

So we have now reached a point in our political system where a Bible-thumping, climate-change denier who gets kick-backs from the oil industry with no scientific background in energy production or climate change seeks to take the wheel of our nation's energy policies.

I don't know about you, but this man makes me a wee bit nervous.

Abraham and Jephthah: Yahweh's great contradiction

Ask any Christian if the Bible is an accurate description of God's character, more than likely they will answer yes. If you ask them if genocide, slavery, rape, abortion and theft are morally reprehensible, they'll also likely answer yes. But when you offer them evidence that not only are these acts are approved by Yahweh but commanded, they'll do one of several things -- deny the evidence, give God carte blanche (he's God and he can do what he wants, might makes right, i.e.), respond "But that's the Old Testament. Jesus changed things," or if they're truly honest, begin questioning the veracity of the Bible.

Like many religions that were developed throughout Mesopotamia, Judeo-Christianity and Judaism embrace the concept of human and animal sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin. One would think that there is a better way for God to forgive sin than to spill innocent blood since he's omniscient. In reality, early Christians likely lifted the concept of blood sacrifice from Mithraism, which is said to have been born from Zoroastrianism. As astronomer E.C. Krupp states in his book, Beyond the Blue Horizon: Myths and Legends of the Sun, Moon, Stars and Planets:

"We don't know at what point in the year Mithras slaughtered the bull, and we don't know when this mythical act was reenacted in the Mithraic grottoes to baptize initiates in the blood of the bull. But the depictions of sacrifice displayed in the chapels are entirely consistent with the astronomical circumstances of a specific night, just after sunset, in spring."

Krupp confirms that Mithraic rituals of blood sacrifice and baptism were alive and well before the advent of Christianity. He also confirms another very subtle but strong relation between Christianity and worship of celestial bodies. It is interesting to note that Mithras' birthday was celebrated on December 25th as, by default, he was one of the embodiments of Sol Invictus, the Unconquered Sun. It is also interesting to note that a key tenet of Mithraic tradition was ritual meals, not unlike that of Christian communion.

While human/animal sacrifice is nothing new, there are two prime examples that can be found in the Old Testament -- the stories of Abraham and Jephthah. Of these two, the story of Abraham's desire to slay his own son as an act of obedience to Jehovah, is the most prominent. But the story of Jephthah is not so well-known. Not surprisingly, many Christians have never heard of Jephthah.

Jephthah, as the Book of Judges illustrates, was a warrior that served as a judge in Israel for six years. Jephthah led the Israelites in a battle against the Ammonites. But before the battle began, Jephthah prayed to Jehovah, asking for an assured victory in exchange for the first thing that walked out of his house to greet him after the battle. Jephthah's only daughter was the first to exit his house upon his return, exuberant and dancing with tambourines. Horrified, Jephthah told her that he had made an oath to God that couldn't be broken, and that she needed to be sacrificed.

She asked for two months of isolation with her friends because had never known marriage. At the end of those two months, Jephthah slew his only daughter, a virgin, of course.

At the opposite end of the sacrificial spectrum stands Abraham and his then only son, Isaac. The story takes places in Genesis 22:1-19 when Jehovah calls out to Abraham and instructs him to take Isaac to a mountain where he will be sacrificed. Abraham immediately obeys and sets out for the wilderness along with his son. At no point does the text say anything about Abraham questioning Jehovah's request, which I find rather interesting. Even the New Testament tells us that Jesus begged God to reconsider letting his blood spill. But no request can be found from Abraham.

After walking through the wilderness for three days, they finally arrive at the place where Isaac is to be slain. Isaac begins inquiring where the sacrificial lamb is, but Abraham insists that God will provide a lamb very soon. Finally, Abraham binds Isaac and lays him onto a makeshift alter.

Try to imagine binding your only son as he struggles, clawing, fighting and screaming, wondering why you're trying to plunge a knife into his neck. I can't help but wonder at what point a man would tell Jehovah that he's not worthy of worship, that he is an utterly horrible deity, and that the only way he could have his son is by going through himself first.

Just as Abraham raises his knife above Isaac's body, the angel the lord suddenly prevents Abraham from following through. Genesis 22:12 states "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."

Many, if not most, evangelicals believe that this particular angel is Jesus himself. The inevitable question then should leap out to the astute reader, isn't God omniscient? If so, then he should know that Abraham truly fears him. As a matter of fact, he should have known that Abraham feared him millions of years before he was born. Why then does this particular angel say, "Now I know that you fear God"?

Many Christians will say that their god would never accept any human sacrifice, particularly virgin sacrifice, other than that of Jesus, which when you think about it, really wasn't a sacrifice at all. As Matt Dillahunty once said, "At least when Elvis died for my sins he stayed dead." But as we read the text in Judges, we do know that Yahweh is willing to accept human sacrifice.

So there are two great contradictions here that few Christians will ever accept. The first of these is that they will say their god is omniscient, but the text in Genesis 22 proves otherwise. The second contradiction is that, assuming Yahweh really is omniscient, he could see millions of years in advance before Abraham ever raised a knife above his son's body, he would send his angel to stop it. If this is true, then he certainly had the ability to stop Jephthah from slaying his only daughter. He had three days to stop Abraham and prevented him from going through with Isaac's sacrifice, but had two months to stop Jephthah from sacrificing his daughter, yet chose not to.

Most Christians, no doubt, will either ignore this or rationalize in some way that Jephthah's daughter really wasn't sacrificed at all. Or, if they do accept the evidence at face value, will claim that there is a greater plan in God's vision than we can see. Yet, for all the biblical doctrine they know (which is actually very little), they will never state what that reason is. They would rather proclaim that it's a mystery to us and only God knows why, adding yet one more piece of evidence why their god is immoral.

One further addition to this problem for Yahweh is that not only does he condone lying, he actually rewards it. Starting in Genesis 22:7-8 we read:

Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?"
Yes, my son?" Abraham replied.
"The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"
Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together."

The only reason these two journeyed into the mountains is so that Abraham could sacrifice Isaac. At no point did he expect God to intervene, nor did he expect a lamb as a substitute for Isaac. The reward for Abraham, as Genesis states, was that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars, which we know is false.

Okay, seriously, Gary...

By now you may have heard about Gary Faulkner, the Rambo wannabe who has his heart set on the capture and/or death of Osama bin Laden. He left the US to go to Afghanistan to find the OBL after being fed up by the failure of the US military to find and kill him. So Faulkner, being a Christian, boarded a plane with nothing more than a Bible and plastic handcuffs.

After arriving in Pakistan on June 3rd, he was escorted to a hotel where he was being detained, but he slipped out of the hotel unnoticed by authorities. Then he was summarily arrested by said authorities. At the time of his arrest, he was carrying a sword, a sidearm, and, of course, more Christian fundie writings.

Now, I can appreciate the eagerness to take on the poster boy for fundamentalist terrorism, but this is beyond laughable. Now millions of would-be patriotic Americans are hailing this clown as a hero.

Gary, if you're reading this, just what are you trying to prove? How do you think you're going to get OBL even when the most powerful military force on the planet has so far failed? How do you plan on getting through OBL's entourage with nothing more than a sidearm and a sword? Please come to your senses and go back home to your family and friends.

Personally, I think OBL is either dead or sipping a pina colada on some island right under our noses.

Christians torturing and murdering children in Africa.

Why are Christians torturing and murdering children in Nigeria? Because they're witches, of course! Do these Christians need actual proof that these kids are witches? Of course not!

Fundies in Africa are taking Exodus 22:18 to heart. It states, "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."

I had a bit of a tussle recently with an individual named Isaiah over at Ray's blog. Isaiah, who goes by the handle, God Sent, tried to convince me that the Bible is the end-all, be-all guide to morality. But whenever I posed him with a couple of simple questions to reveal his hypocrisy, he ran away.

If you're reading this, Isaiah, I want you to explain to me again how Judeo-Christianity is the foundation of morality after a bunch of brainwashed, fundamentalist murderers used the Bible as justification for their crimes. Against children, no less.

Even if you're not Isaiah, and you're a Christian, can you explain this to me?

Please?

Update: Dale Neumann

In May I told you about the death of Kara Neumann. She was murdered by her parents because they felt that praying to Jesus provided more hope to save their daughter than medical treatment for diabetes. The day she died, Kara became so weak that she collapsed to the floor and went into a coma. Even as Kara was dying her parents prayed and asked their friends and family to pray for her instead of calling 911.

Thanks, Jesus.

Kara's mother, Leilani, was convicted in May of second degree homicide. On August 1st her husband was also charged with the same crime. Both face up to 25 years in prison.

But here's the kicker. Dale's attorney, Jay Kronenwetter said, "Dale Neumann was doing what he thought would work for his daughter. He was administering faith healing. He thought it was working."

This little girl was dying for a month. She grew weaker and weaker every day, until she finally collapsed and went into a coma. And even then, Dale and Leilani thought praying would heal their daughter and save her from certain death. At which point did these murderers realize that Kara's "faith healing" wasn't working?

As far as I'm concerned everyone who prayed for Kara knowing she was being denied medical treatment instead of calling child protective services should be put on trial as well. How people like Kronenwetter can sleep soundly is a mystery.

Have fun in jail, Neumann's.

In related news, Daniel Hauser is continuing chemotherapy for his non-Hodgkins lymphoma by court order.

A message for Brad Dacus

While browsing God's news site last Friday, I came across this article. It's supercharged with typical fear-mongering and Protestant rhetoric. Anyway, I have a message for Brad Dacus. I want you to read the following excerpt from the Constitution of the United States of America:

Bill of Rights

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Now, I want you to read the following transcription from the 44th Presidential Inuaguration, when Pastor Rick Warren stated the following:

"Let us pray.

Almighty God, our father, everything we see and everything we can't see exists because of you alone. It all comes from you, it all belongs to you. It all exists for your glory. History is your story. The Scripture tells us Hear, oh Israel, the Lord is our God; the Lord is one. And you are the compassionate and merciful one. And you are loving to everyone you have made.

Now today we rejoice not only in America's peaceful transfer of power for the 44th time. We celebrate a hinge-point of history with the inauguration of our first African-American president of the United States. We are so grateful to live in this land, a land of unequaled possibility, where the son of an African immigrant can rise to the highest level of our leadership.

And we know today that Dr. King and a great cloud of witnesses are shouting in Heaven. Give to our new president, Barack Obama, the wisdom to lead us with humility, the courage to lead us with integrity, the compassion to lead us with generosity. Bless and protect him, his family, Vice President Biden, the Cabinet, and every one of our freely elected leaders.

Help us, oh God, to remember that we are Americans, united not by race or religion or blood, but to our commitment to freedom and justice for all. When we focus on ourselves, when we fight each other, when we forget you, forgive us. When we presume that our greatness and our prosperity is ours alone, forgive us. When we fail to treat our fellow human beings and all the Earth with the respect that they deserve, forgive us.

And as we face these difficult days ahead, may we have a new birth of clarity in our aims, responsibility in our actions, humility in our approaches, and civility in our attitudes, even when we differ.Help us to share, to serve and to seek the common good of all.

May all people of good will today join together to work for a more just, a more healthy and a more prosperous nation and a peaceful planet. And may we never forget that one day all nations and all people will stand accountable before you.

We now commit our new president and his wife, Michelle, and his daughters, Malia and Sasha, into your loving care. I humbly ask this in the name of the one who changed my life, Yeshua, Isa, Jesus, Jesus (hay-SOOS), who taught us to pray, Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

I want you to close your eyes for a moment, and envision an imam in place of Rick Warren. Or a rabbi, a wiccan, or even a satanist. It makes you angry, doesn't it? The anger that's burning inside of you? Your fists clench, your pulse quickens, and you've become enraged. Now, you have become incensed at the thought of anyone but a Christian leading a prayer at the inauguration.

Do you see now, why there is a need for separation of church and state?
